Highly anticipated EP by one of my favorite Brooklyn bands right now. Bring on the summer.
Also check out the single "Watergun" which was released back in March.
Neighbors' celebrate the release of the August EP June 3rd at Glasslands with Living Days and Dinosaur Bones. See you there.

PENGUIN PRISON - http://www.myspace.com/pen guinprison
Imagine, if you will, Chic produced by James Murphy, collaboration between Prince and The Human League, or Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones remixing Off The Wall... brainy but boppy New York disco, as accessible as it is angular, all burbling bass lines, resonant rhythms, shimmering synths and heavenly melodies.
BLACKBIRD BLACKBIRD (CA) - http://blackbirdblackbird. bandcamp.com/
Blackbird Blackbird is a prolific electronic musician who has been featured as a most-blogged artist on The Independent UK at least three times, and accrued a massive following via Hype Machine and Bandcamp.
TINY VICTORIES - http://tinyvictories.bandc amp.com/
A Brooklyn via Athens/DC duo, Greg Walters and Cason Kelly combine experimental electronics with earthy vocals, lush orchestration, elements of noise rock and live drums. The band builds simple songs out of complex pieces, which they best describe as "experimental pop."

SUN AIRWAY - http://www.myspace.com/sun airway
Atmospheric yet catchy, hazy but somehow vital and immediate... Sun Airway has hit on the sweet spot where infectious hooks and cerebral electronic pop intersect, pulling textural sound and pop songcraft into one.
MONOGOLD - http://www.myspace.com/mon ogoldmusic
Wonderfully crafted lush pop that glides towards dreamy and transcendent territories. Singer Keith Kelly uses his floating falsetto to propel the trio's songs up, up, and up some more.
NEW MOODS - http://www.myspace.com/new moods
Edgy dance-rock that's at times reminiscent of dark and claustrophobic British bands from the 80s, like very early Simple Minds, The Cure or the more recent Clinic.
+ SURPRISE SPECIAL GUESTS TBA

CAMDEN - VALE EP
Big fan of the VALE EP from Boston quintet Camden. First time hearing their sound, I was sure it was the product of a kid prodigy, synthesizing youthful beats and bouncy hooks in his basement with loads of electronic toys, time, and a good ear for production.
Seeing Camden live, I was pleased to find out that they're actually a solid 5 piece outfit, not one synthesizer, even more entertaining in person than what I imagined on the record. Happy ending -- everyone danced. Listen to the record. Get the songs in your head. See them live.
Catch Camden at the BirdDog CMJ Showcase @ Pianos (upstairs lounge) -- playing right after a little band named Baths! Get there early.
Heard they don't really play shows that much, just house parties. That should put things in perspective.
